Princess Opeyemi Bright has made history as she officially assumes office as the youngest serving Mayor in the United Kingdom.
At just 29, she now holds the esteemed title of First Citizen of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Her official inauguration took place on Friday, May 16, 2025, marking a significant milestone in British politics.
Born in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents, Princess Bright’s appointment has been met with widespread celebration as a shining example of diverse representation, youth leadership, and the growing global presence of the Nigerian diaspora.
