The Lagos State Police Command has detained Precious Anegbode, a 21-year-old woman, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, simply identified as Damilola, during a dispute at his home in the Ijegun community of Lagos State.

According to sources close to the scene, Anegbode visited Damilola’s apartment last Friday, a visit that reportedly turned confrontational.

Eyewitnesses recounted that what started as a verbal disagreement soon intensified, spiraling into a violent clash between the young couple.

A nearby resident, who opted to stay anonymous, described the moment tensions boiled over, attracting the attention of surrounding neighbours. Amid the growing commotion, Anegbode allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Damilola fatally during the altercation.

“We couldn’t determine what sparked the disagreement between them. We only heard loud voices from their room. Not long after, we heard the woman crying out. When we entered the room, we saw the lifeless body of the man on the ground,” the witness said.

Another eyewitness disclosed that the neighbours attempted to save Damilola by taking him to a nearby medical facility, but he was declared dead upon arrival.

“While some people rushed him to the hospital, others stopped the woman from escaping. At the hospital, the doctors confirmed he was already dead.

“Later on, we went to the police station to file a report, and officers followed us back to the house to take the suspect into custody,” the individual added.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the tragic incident. He said the case was reported around 11:30 a.m. that same Friday.

“The victim was transported to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. Officers from the Igando Division arrested the suspect.

“Further inquiries revealed the event took place under another police division’s jurisdiction. The case was then transferred to the Isheri Oshun division. Patrol teams and the Division Crime Branch (DCB) were dispatched, and the suspect was detained at Igando Police Station. The deceased’s remains were deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary,” CSP Hundeyin explained.

He further noted, “Photographic evidence was captured, and officers visited the crime scene. The knife allegedly used in the attack was retrieved and blood traces were documented.

“The suspect gave a confessional statement under caution. The case file, along with the recovered weapon, will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for comprehensive investigation.”
