Supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, operating under the umbrella of the National Coalition for Asiwaju Mandate (NCAM), have strongly opposed the recent political alliance spearheaded by Atiku Abubakar and other prominent opposition figures.

Atiku Announces Coalition to Challenge Tinubu in 2027

According to Daily Post, Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), officially launched an opposition coalition on March 20, 2025. The announcement was made during a press conference addressing what opposition leaders described as the unconstitutional declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The coalition comprises major political figures, including:

  • Peter Obi, 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State.
  • Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna State governor.
  • Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
  • Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

NCAM Labels the Opposition Coalition a “Selfish Political Agenda”

In response, the National President of NCAM, Isaac Ikpa, released a statement in Abuja, condemning the coalition as an alliance of “expired politicians” who are more concerned with personal ambition than national development.

According to Ikpa, the opposition figures in the coalition have a track record of failed leadership, corruption, and divisive politics, making them unfit to dictate Nigeria’s future.

“This so-called coalition is merely a gathering of politicians seeking relevance. It is a laughable attempt by individuals who have repeatedly failed Nigerians to reclaim lost political influence,” Ikpa stated.

Tinubu’s Supporters Defend His Leadership and Renewed Hope Agenda

NCAM emphasized that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is delivering on its promises and that Nigerians must resist attempts by opposition politicians to derail the country’s progress.

“These individuals have no vision, no credibility, and no track record of good governance. Their coalition is built on hypocrisy, deceit, and personal ambition, rather than a sincere concern for the Nigerian people.”

The group urged citizens to reject what they described as a desperate move by opposition leaders to regain power at the expense of Nigeria’s stability.

“We must not allow these individuals to drag Nigeria backward. The future of our nation is at stake, and we must stand firm in defending good governance and transformative leadership,” Ikpa concluded.
