2027: Salihu Lukman Warns That Internal Rivalry May Tear ADC Apart

A senior figure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Salihu Lukman, has expressed deep concern that the party could face severe internal crises ahead of the 2027 general elections if power struggles within its Kaduna State chapter are not immediately addressed.

Lukman issued a strong appeal to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, alongside other prominent political stakeholders, urging them to avoid actions that might further destabilize the party. According to him, the unhealthy competition for dominance over party structures in Kaduna is creating unnecessary division that could weaken the ADC’s strength in upcoming elections.

He emphasized that such internal wrangling could jeopardize the collective future of the party if left unchecked. Lukman advised party members to focus on building unity, cooperation, and discipline rather than pursuing personal political interests.

The ADC chieftain noted that political parties in Nigeria often collapse when leaders put personal ambitions above the collective good of the organization. He added that it would be disastrous if the ADC suffers the same fate due to unchecked rivalry.

Lukman also highlighted that the public’s trust in political organizations depends largely on how they handle internal disagreements. If leaders like El-Rufai and other top figures continue to prioritize personal battles, the ADC may lose credibility before the Nigerian people.

In his words, the party must learn from history, as several major parties have been weakened or consumed by power struggles. He stressed the need for an immediate reconciliation process within the party to ensure that the African Democratic Congress emerges stronger ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The call for peace and unity by Lukman underscores a common challenge in Nigerian politics — where the fight for dominance within political parties often leads to disunity, weakening them before national contests. Unless the ADC leaders address this looming crisis, the party risks fading into irrelevance just when Nigerians are seeking credible alternatives in governance.
