2027 Presidential Race: Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, and Others to Sign Unified Pact Before ADC Presidential Primary

In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, presidential aspirants under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have reached a strategic consensus to formally sign a binding pact. This agreement is aimed at solidifying a united front, wherein all aspirants will collectively support whichever candidate emerges as the official ADC presidential flagbearer.

This significant revelation was made by one of the aspirants, Rotimi Amaechi, during an exclusive conversation with LEADERSHIP on Friday.

According to a political report by LMSINT MEDIA, prominent political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, have officially indicated their interest to contest under the ADC platform in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

Despite widespread speculation suggesting that the party leadership may zone its presidential ticket to the northern region—an action that could bolster Atiku’s chances against incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—the interim National Chairman of ADC, Senator David Mark, has decisively refuted these claims.

Senator Mark, who previously served as Senate President, assured both members and supporters of the African Democratic Congress that his leadership would guarantee absolute transparency throughout the party’s nomination process. He emphasized that ADC has no preferred candidate, and fairness will be the core principle guiding the party’s internal democratic processes.

In providing more clarity on the proposed agreement, Amaechi explained that the coalition of aspirants had come to a principled consensus, but that clarity and mutual understanding of what constitutes a transparent primary election were still crucial.

“What we agreed in principle—and I must stress the importance of honesty in this—is that whoever emerges through a transparent primary election will receive collective support from all the aspirants,” Amaechi noted.

He further raised a concern about the possibility of manipulation within the party primary process, cautioning against the misuse of the term transparency.

“But before anything else, we must all agree on the definition of transparency in this context. It’s easy for someone to hijack the electoral process and still label it as transparent. That is what we must guard against,” he added.

As the ADC prepares for its primary election, political analysts are watching closely to see how the pact among top contenders like Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi will shape the dynamics of opposition politics in 2027.
