Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, affirmed on Friday that President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive between 70 to 80 percent of votes from the South-East in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
Kalu expressed confidence that these votes would symbolize the Igbo people’s way of showing gratitude to Tinubu for his dedication to the development of the region.
He made this statement in Ntalakwu, situated in the Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, as part of a release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu.
Kalu emphasized, “We are assuring the President of 70 to 80 percent of votes from Igboland. Let us continue to uphold peace and unity among us.”
He further stated, “No other President has honored the promise made to the Igbo people post-war like President Bola Tinubu. Fifty years have passed with numerous administrations, and none took the responsibility to fulfill those promises made to Ndi Igbo. It was only President Bola Tinubu who embraced this responsibility and insisted on creating a platform to address the concerns raised by Ndi Igbo.”
“The South East Development Commission (SEDC) was his initiative, one that no other President had been willing to establish. He signed the SEDC bill into law and has continued to fund it, despite opposition claims that he wouldn’t. He has shown his commitment to Ndi Igbo, and we, the Igbos, will remember those who truly care for us.”
