2027: APC Says Atiku Abubakar’s Resignation from PDP Poses No Political Threat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has downplayed the political impact of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming that his departure poses no risk to the APC’s political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This statement was conveyed by Seye Oladejo, the Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, via a press release on Wednesday. He emphasized that even if Atiku shifts allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), it would not alter the political dynamics in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 polls.

As LMSINT MEDIA earlier reported, Atiku officially tendered his resignation from the PDP on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable internal crises within the party.

Atiku’s discontent with the PDP has been evident, especially in the wake of the party’s chaotic post-election handling and its ongoing failure to mount an effective opposition against the ruling government.

Notably, Atiku’s coalition had recently identified the ADC as its preferred political platform for the 2027 elections, signaling deeper alignment with the party as he prepares for the next electoral contest.

Responding to this development, Seye Oladejo characterized Atiku’s move as a predictable and desperate attempt by a disjointed opposition figure to remain politically relevant. He noted that the PDP’s internal dysfunction is further exposed by Atiku’s exit and emphasized the former Vice President’s pattern of political inconsistency.

Oladejo remarked,

“Atiku’s frequent party-hopping demonstrates an ambition devoid of clear ideology. His political pursuits seem motivated by personal aspirations rather than national interest or principle.”

He further asserted that regardless of whether Atiku affiliates with the PDP, ADC, or any other political platform, Nigerians have become increasingly politically enlightened and are unlikely to be influenced by mere political maneuvers.

Oladejo concluded by reaffirming that the APC remains Nigeria’s foremost party, actively delivering tangible governance, economic advancements, and robust infrastructure projects across the nation.
