Nigeria vs Zimbabwe: Chelle Hails Aina and Osayi-Samuel After Intense 1-1 Draw

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has commended two of his players for their exceptional performance in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The highly competitive match saw both teams struggle to find the back of the net in the first half, resulting in a goalless draw before halftime.

However, Nigeria took the lead in the 74th minute, thanks to a well-placed header from Victor Osimhen. Unfortunately, the visitors responded late in the game, with Tawanda Chirewa securing an equalizer for Zimbabwe.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Chelle singled out Ola Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel for their solid displays against the Warriors.

“Ola played on the right side and sometimes on the left. I think he played a good game, and Bright too,” Chelle remarked.

“It was difficult in the last minutes, but we managed a draw.”

With this result, Nigeria now sits in fourth place in Group C standings with seven points, as the race for 2026 World Cup qualification continues.
