The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially designated 154 healthcare facilities nationwide to provide free medical treatment for women facing obstetric complications. These complications can occur during pregnancy, labor, delivery, or postpartum periods, posing serious health risks to mothers.
Speaking on Politics Today, the Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, also confirmed the establishment of 18 specialized centers offering free surgeries for vesicovaginal fistula (VVF), a severe childbirth-related condition that affects many women.
The government has assured that these designated healthcare facilities are equipped with qualified medical professionals and modern equipment to handle emergency obstetric cases efficiently.
