In a strategic security operation across Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended 146 individuals during a series of well-coordinated raids aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating in key areas of the city.
The massive operation, executed on Tuesday, involved officers from multiple police divisions including Wuse, Gwagwalada, Kubwa, Kabusa, Nyanya, Mpape, Utako, Maitama, Apo, Tungan Maje, and Zuba. The tactical Scorpion Squad also participated, executing simultaneous assaults on known criminal enclaves.
According to intelligence sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the raids targeted infamously troubled zones such as Gidan Drama in Zuba and Anagada, known hotspots for illicit activities. During the operation, officers seized five cutlasses and multiple wraps of substances believed to be Indian hemp, along with other illegal drugs.
All 146 suspects are presently held in police custody, where profiling and interrogations are actively ongoing. The FCT Police Command confirmed that suspects found guilty of criminal involvement will face legal prosecution once investigations are finalized.
This operation reflects ongoing efforts by the Nigerian police to reclaim public spaces and ensure safety in the FCT, aligning with broader national security priorities. For further insights into Nigeria’s security framework, visit Nigeria Security Tracker – CFR.
