In a devastating escalation of hostilities, a Russian drone attack targeted a civilian bus in Marhanets, a city in south-central Ukraine, leading to the tragic deaths of nine innocent workers and injuring at least 49 others. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has strongly condemned the incident, calling it a deliberate war crime.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 134 drones were launched by Russia overnight, with several aimed at densely populated civilian areas. Among the hardest hit was a worker transport bus associated with a local mining and processing plant, an object clearly designated for non-military purposes.
President Zelenskyy, in an emotional address shared on X (formerly Twitter), stated:
“A simple bus. Clearly not a military target. This was a ruthless and intentional act of aggression—an undeniable war crime. We must demand an immediate, full, and unconditional ceasefire.”
While Russia has not commented on the attack at the time of writing, Ukraine continues to advocate for global diplomatic support to halt further loss of innocent lives.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have arrived in London for critical talks aimed at initiating a ceasefire and peace negotiations, even as global tensions remain high.
As reported by LMSINT Media, Marhanets is strategically located on the Ukrainian-held side of the Dnipro River, opposite Russian-occupied territory. The reservoir, which once separated the two sides, has significantly dried up—exposing the region to intensified combat zones.
Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Serhiy Lysak confirmed the casualty figures and described the scene as “unimaginably brutal.”
This tragic event adds to the growing list of civilian-targeted attacks in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, prompting global condemnation and calls for legal accountability under international humanitarian law.
