Ukraine War Peace Proposal: Trump’s Envoy Suggests Partitioning Ukraine Like Post-WWII Berlin

In a striking suggestion amid ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, a former national security adviser to ex-President Donald Trump, proposed a peace solution that could reshape Ukraine’s geopolitical map.

In an interview with The Times, Kellogg hinted at the possibility of dividing Ukraine into distinct military zones, echoing the historical division of Berlin after World War II. He suggested that this format could potentially bring stability if a ceasefire agreement fails to be reached.

What Kellogg Proposed

According to General Kellogg, the partition plan would involve the following structure:

  • British and French forces would form a “reassurance force” controlling western Ukraine.
  • Russian troops would remain stationed in the eastern territories they currently occupy.
  • Ukrainian armed forces would remain present in a demilitarized zone, acting as a buffer between both sides.
  • The United States would not commit any ground troops, as per Kellogg’s statement.

“You could almost make it look like what happened with Berlin after World War II – a Russian zone, a French zone, and a British zone,” said Kellogg during the interview.

This scenario draws a direct parallel to the Berlin partition that followed Germany’s defeat in World War II, which split the city among the Allies and the Soviet Union.

Russia’s Standpoint on Ceasefire

Despite increasing global discussions on peace proposals, Russia has remained silent on its ceasefire conditions, particularly concerning the Black Sea region.

According to a recent update by Reuters, the Kremlin has not provided any formal outline of what would constitute acceptable peace terms.

Ukraine’s Reaction

As of now, Ukrainian authorities have not publicly responded to Kellogg’s remarks. It remains unclear whether this plan aligns with Kyiv’s long-term goals of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

What This Could Mean

If adopted, this plan would mark a major shift in the international approach to resolving the Ukraine crisis. However, it raises serious questions about:

  • Ukraine’s sovereignty
  • The role of NATO forces
  • Long-term regional stability
  • Russian military presence in sovereign Ukrainian territory

Such a proposal would also require extensive diplomatic negotiations and could face strong opposition from both Kyiv and global allies.
