18 / 100 Powered by Rank Math SEO SEO Score The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects accused of killing their brother and burying him in a shallow grave within their compound in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State. During a press briefing in Awka, Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam disclosed that the victim, Chibuzor Okeke, was accused of burglary and theft. His brother, Chidiebere Okeke, and cousin, Emebo Ogochukwu, confronted him, allegedly beating him severely. The assault rendered Chibuzor unconscious, prompting a rushed hospital visit where doctors confirmed him dead. To cover up the crime, the suspects reportedly buried Chibuzor in a shallow grave within their compound. Child Trafficking Case Uncovered Commissioner Itam also reported the rescue of four children abducted from their parents in Bauchi State and trafficked to Anambra. Four suspects, including an illegal foster mother, were arrested in connection with the case. The suspects confessed to the crime and explained their individual roles. Efforts are ongoing to reunite the children with their biological families. Criminal Camp Dismantled in Nimo On December 24, 2024, a joint operation led by the Nigeria Police Force, along with the Military, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante operatives, raided a criminal hideout in Nimo, Njikoka LGA. The operation led to the destruction of makeshift structures and the recovery of 19 unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Several suspects sustained injuries while fleeing. Anti-Cultism Raid in Awka South In a separate operation, police from the Anti-Cultism Squad raided a known criminal hotspot in Umunaga Village, Awka South LGA. Two suspects, Okechukwu Chinwuko (27) and Ezenwa Chinedu (22), were arrested. Recovered items included a pump-action gun, four live cartridges, a cutlass, charms, and substances suspected to be hard drugs. Two female victims who had been sexually assaulted were also rescued.
