The Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, recently confirmed this order, emphasizing the military’s commitment to intensifying its offensive against non-state actors. “The bandits are on the run, but we will not rest until we achieve total security. The President has given a clear directive, and our forces are working tirelessly to meet this goal,” Badaru stated. He further highlighted the continuous collaboration between the Chief of Defence Staff and the National Security Adviser to ensure the success of the mission. Residents and Experts Laud the Initiative Across the North-East and North-West, citizens and security experts have welcomed this decisive move. Many believe that tackling insecurity is essential for economic stability, particularly in sectors like agriculture and trade. Zamfara and Kebbi States Call for Sustained Action In Zamfara, residents Salisu Tunga and Aminu Bello from Shinkafi Local Government acknowledged military successes but urged intensified operations to eliminate lingering threats. Tunga pointed out that certain communities still face harassment from bandits, highlighting the need for more robust security measures in areas like Dansadau, Magami, Zurmi, and Maradun. In Kebbi State, Deputy Governor Sen. Umar Tafida confirmed that bandit groups from neighboring states and Niger Republic still pose a security risk. However, he assured the public that authorities are working proactively to suppress these threats. Additionally, Alhaji AbdulRahman Usman, Director of Security at the Cabinet Office in Kebbi, noted that previous terrorist strongholds, such as Lakurawa camps, have been eliminated, significantly reducing attacks in Argungu, Augie, and Arewa Local Government Areas.
