President Tinubu Greenlights Recruitment of 774 National Health Fellows to Boost Healthcare
President Bola Tinubu has approved the employment of 774 National Health Fellows as part of a groundbreaking initiative led by the Federal Ministry of Health. This strategic move aims to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare workforce and improve service delivery across all local government areas.
The official announcement was made at the programme’s launch event at the State House in Abuja, attended by key government officials, Nigeria’s development partners, and traditional leaders, including the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
Merit-Based Selection of National Health Fellows
The recruitment process was based on a rigorous selection procedure recommended by Professor Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Out of over 360,000 applicants, only the most qualified candidates were chosen, ensuring the highest level of competency among the fellows.
President Tinubu’s unexpected approval of employment for the fellows was met with applause from attendees, highlighting the significance of the initiative in addressing Nigeria’s healthcare challenges.

Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting its potential to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
