Seplat Energy Plc has credited its sustained growth and industry leadership to strategic planning, robust corporate governance, and a dedicated workforce. The company emphasized that Nigeria’s development, backed by government collaboration, remains a fundamental priority.
Seplat Energy’s Commitment to Nigeria’s Development
During the Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja, Seplat Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Roger Brown, highlighted the immense opportunities within Nigeria’s energy sector, particularly in sub-surface exploration. Brown reaffirmed Seplat Energy’s dedication to maximizing these opportunities for national transformation.
“With recent asset acquisitions, Nigeria is entering a new phase of energy development. Seplat Energy Group is poised to play a significant role in this transformation,” Brown stated.
He further noted, “Our strategies, workforce, and adherence to strong corporate governance have positioned us as a leader in the industry. We continue to collaborate with key stakeholders to drive energy expansion.”
Seplat Energy’s Expansion & Stakeholder Collaboration
Following the acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, now rebranded as Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU), Seplat Energy has become one of Nigeria’s largest oil and gas producers. The company remains a committed partner to the Nigerian government, aligning its operations with the national agenda to increase oil and gas production.
According to Brown, Seplat Energy has built a reputation as a reliable operator and steward of Nigeria’s natural resources. “Having operated for over 15 years, our dual listing in 2014 was a testament to the confidence of international financial markets in our business model. Our track record in acquiring and enhancing assets has delivered benefits to the Nigerian economy,” he explained.
Advanced Energy Management & Sustainability Practices
Seplat Energy continues to implement world-class Well Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM) techniques. These methodologies optimize Short-Term Oil Generation (STOG) and maximize yields from newly drilled wells, reducing operational costs and improving efficiency.
Brown also emphasized the significant potential of Nigeria’s gas reserves, stating, “The vast gas resources within our portfolio present a transformational opportunity to enhance electricity generation and economic development in Nigeria.”
Seplat Energy remains dedicated to sustainability and transparent governance, which are critical factors for international oil companies (IOCs) considering asset divestment. “As a publicly listed company, we adhere to rigorous sustainability and governance standards, ensuring full transparency in our asset management and environmental stewardship,” Brown concluded.
