The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has taken a firm stance on the mandatory implementation of the Nigeria Export Proceed (NXP) for all export cargoes. To enforce this, the NPA has directed its technical partner, Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP), to ensure strict compliance with the new regulation. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and streamline export processes at Nigerian ports.
Mandatory NXP Compliance for Export Trucks
In an official notice to maritime industry stakeholders, Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP) announced that, effective February 2025, all export-bound trucks must comply with the NXP requirement before gaining access to the ports.
The notice emphasized the importance of familiarizing with the updated procedures to avoid any disruption in cargo transportation and processing. It further stated:
“Effective February 2025, all export trucks must meet the Nigeria Export Proceed (NXP) requirements before accessing the ports. This policy is designed to streamline operations and enhance export efficiency. We urge stakeholders to comply to prevent disruptions.”
Stakeholder Reactions and Compliance Benefits
Industry experts have welcomed the directive, highlighting its benefits for foreign exchange repatriation and regulatory compliance. The Managing Director of Diamond Star Export Processing Terminal, Mr. Olatunji Baale, praised the policy, stating that it will ensure exporters properly document trade proceeds with their banks.
He explained:
“This policy guarantees that foreign earnings from exports are properly repatriated. It also ensures that only compliant exporters gain access to port facilities, improving overall efficiency.”
Baale further emphasized that the NPA’s enforcement of the NXP process will contribute significantly to Nigeria’s growing non-oil export sector.
