This was revealed by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Musa Shanono, during the official 2025 budget breakdown on Thursday.

Major Agricultural Investments in Kano

The budget includes key investments aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, irrigation, and rural livelihoods:

₦3 billion allocated for the Dansoshiya Dam construction, designed to hold 3.1 billion liters of water and equipped with flow channels.
₦5.6 billion designated for the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority and the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) to improve farming and agro-business competitiveness.

Empowering Farmers and Rural Communities

Kano State is making direct investments in farmers through various targeted programs:

₦815 million earmarked for farm inputs, including high-yield seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals.
₦571 million allocated for constructing onion beds across the three senatorial districts to enhance onion farming.
₦391 million designated for the Value Chain Development Initiative, focusing on empowering women in agriculture.
₦167 million reserved for veterinary services, ensuring adequate animal healthcare and livestock development.

To further support the KSADP initiative, the state government plans to establish a pasture museum at Kadawa, with a budget of ₦162 million.
