During a press briefing on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting the police in uncovering the origins of the fake currency. He stated, “Counterfeit currencies equivalent to a total sum of ₦129,542,826,000 were recovered.” The police also recovered various items, including six rounds of live ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles, and three parcels containing 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Additionally, 250 diazepam tablets, 278 sheep, and seven cattle were seized. SP Kiyawa emphasized that these proactive measures are not only aiding in the apprehension of criminals but also serving as a deterrent to others contemplating unlawful activities. He highlighted that the command has made significant progress in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, gang-related violence, and drug trafficking in the region.
