The Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Shanono, disclosed this while providing details of the state’s N719.7 billion budget for the fiscal year 2025. Key Allocations in the 2025 Kano State Budget Aside from the N2.5 billion allocated for mass weddings, other significant budgetary allocations include: Increase in Kano State’s 2025 Budget According to Shanono, the initial budget proposal presented to the State House of Assembly was N549.1 billion. However, after scrutiny, consultations, and public hearings, the final approved budget increased to N719.7 billion—an increase of N170.6 billion (31%) from the originally proposed figure. Breakdown of the 2025 Budget The approved budget consists of: The budget surpasses the state’s projected resources, as outlined in the 2025-2027 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF). This increase is attributed to new revenue sources, including additional allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) following subsidy removal and other capital receipts. Kano State 2025 Revenue Projection The total recurrent revenue for the 2025 fiscal year is projected at N617 billion, consisting of: Compared to the 2024 recurrent revenue of N379.7 billion, the 2025 figure represents an increase of N237 billion (62.5%). However, internally generated revenue (IGR) is projected to be N16 billion lower than in 2024, reflecting a 15.8% decline. Meanwhile, capital receipts for 2025 stand at N73.7 billion, with a treasury opening balance of N29 billion.
